Sustainable Glasgow is excited to host their fifth annual Homegrown 5k on Apri 26th, 2024 at 7:30 am. New for this year, we will have a chip-timed race with age group awards, but joggers and walkers are welcome! The race will begin at the Yancey's Patio in Downtown Glasgow, Kentucky and meander through beautiful neighborhoods and the South Green corridor before ending back on the Square. Course closes at 8:30 am. Proceeds of the race will benefit Sustainable Glasgow and supplement the Double Dollars program for the Bounty of the Barrens Farmer's Market.

We will have a packet pickup and in-person registration on Friday evening before the race at First Christian Church, 1100 N. Race St from 5-7pm at the main entrance (back lot). Registration and packet pick-up on the day of the event will open at 6:00-7:00am on Yancey's patio. Please register early to make sure you get a shirt on race day.

This event will coincide with the return of the Bounty of the Barrens Farmers' Market to the square. Stick around for great shopping and food!

    Group Discount - Get a group together - church family, extended family, work buddies, sports teams, school clubs, social clubs, good friends - and save $5 on registrations with a group of 10 or more. A prize is offered for the largest group, so start recruiting! (Discounts adjusted after your team gets 10 members.)

    The funds raised by the race will be used for ARK's work in the community: continued support and expansion of the Hart County Animal Shelter, ARK's feline foster/adoption program, Trap-Neuter-Return program for stray cats, spay/neuter/rabies vouchers to reduce the number of unwanted pets, educational outreach to develop the next generation of leaders, and providing information and solutions for pets and pet owners through social media. Conquer the Hill is a 5K Run/Walk to honor Danny's leadership, bring us together to meet the needs of neighbors in our community and to move each other forward.     As the runners and walkers conquer historic Hospital Hill in Downtown Bowling Green KY, we won't just be running a race we'll be providing a hand up to our neighbors. We'll be adding to the Danny Carothers Housing Endowment through the Community Foundation of South Central Kentucky to benefit the housing programs of House on the Hill. Danny saw the need to help others conquer their hills, to get over and reach the other side.     The event is held in memory of Vernon Long, who was an avid runner who passed from cancer in October 2021. This year, the event is also held in memory of Lacey Poppy, who after a valiant fight against cancer - passed in 2023. All proceeds from this event will be going to Life’s Better Together, Inc. and will be directly donated to support a family where someone is undergoing treatment for cancer.

    Your participation and support of this event not only helps the family but shows reverence for all who are battling cancer. Our hope is that through this event, we can help those who are impacted find a community and not feel alone in fighting the good fight of cancer treatment.

    April is Amputee Awareness Month. May 2026 will mark 5 years that I have been an amputee. This event was created to raise awareness and support two groups that are important to me. When I was in high school, I was a member of the track and cross-country teams. Before my accident, I enjoyed running as a stress reliever and for exercise. Working with kids is another passion of mine. Nothing was going to stop me from getting back to teaching even after becoming an amputee. Camp No-Limits is a camp for children who deal with being an amputee (https://www.nolimitsfoundation.org/). With your help, I will be able to offer scholarships for children who may struggle with the cost of attending camp. This event will raise funds to help both Camp No-Limits and the Green County Track team.

    All events will be held on the track. The walk begins at 9:00am cst. Primary age "Littles Lap" begins at 9:30 cst. Intermediate age "Littles Lap" begins after Primary race.

    We will award the runner for Primary and Intermediate ages for the "Littles Lap".

    Medals will also be given to first runner for each grade - K, 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.
