About Ripley's Penguin Dash:

Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is excited to host the Penguin Dash Run/Walk and Ripley’s Penguin Family Fun 1 mile walk/run! This family-friendly, themed event will be a celebration of the South African Penguins. Guests are encouraged to dress up and all ages are welcome. There is even a free Toddler Waddle taking place in front of Ripley’s Aquarium that morning at 9am. This event will start and end in front of Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach and the route takes the runners through the Broadway at the Beach shopping and dining complex. Norman and Sharkee will be there and we may get a special visit from the penguins themselves! Read more about these beautiful creatures here: https://sanccob.co.za/

Non-Profit Information:

A portion of race proceeds will be donated toward Penguin Conservation efforts through SANCCOB- The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds. https://sanccob.co.za/ In addition, each participant has the opportunity to make subsequent donations during registration. These donations go directly toward the penguin conservation.

    Join us for the Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run presented by Moe Moon's! This unique race features the beauty of Myrtle Beach and takes advantage of the beginning of summer and the longest day of sunlight! Participants will begin on the sand at Plyler Park and head north for approx 1/2 mile and then return. Once your race is complete, join us at Plyer Park for music, food, and fun! Race participants will receive a hotdog, chips, and soda/water compliments of Moe Moon's! Bring your beach towel, dress up in your favorite 80s costume, and let's have a picnic together! This is a perfect event for your family to kickstart the summer season by enjoying the beauty of Myrtle Beach at sunset and get active at the same time! This is an un-timed event and no overall or age group awards will be given. A timing clock will be posted at the finish. All participants dressed in 80s attire will be entered into a costume raffle prize drawing! No animals or strollers allowed on race course.

    Race Info:

    • Race will begin and end on the sand regardless of the tide

    • Begin on the beach adjacent to Plyler Park and head north

    • Return to finish line on the beach

    • Course monitors will be along the course to provide direction

    • Animals are not permitted on the race course and will result in disqualification

    • Baby joggers, baby strollers, skate boards, roller blades, unauthorized bicycles or any other wheeled device are not permitted on the race course and will result in disqualification

Get the entire family involved and register for the 5K, 1 Mile, or our free Stars and Stripes Kids' Dash (50 yards)! Participants are encouraged to dress in costume and celebrate our Independence!
