    Overview:

The 12th annual Fargo Sub-48 Bike Packing Adventure will take place September 25 through September 27, 2026 around beautiful northern Michigan. We're currently working on dialing in campgrounds and the routes, but we assure you it will be a great time and amazing adventure! We try to choose campgrounds in more remote and scenic areas and link them up with all kinds of adventurous terrain and scenery. Full details will be released once we have the accommodations confirmed and route fully scoped out and vetted. We check everything out well in advance to make sure it's gonna be a great time!

Participants will adventure by bike, riding approximately 40-50 miles on day one and 20-30 miles on day two, carry their camping gear, water, energy food, tools, tubes, etc...Riders should have the knowledge required to work on their bike in the event of flats, broken chains, etc. We expect all riders to navigate the routes with a GPS device ( we'll provide GPX files) or by following the provided printed maps. The route will not be signed.

All bikes are allowed but we highly recommend 2" and wider tires due to the sandy nature of Michigan and the rugged nature of seasonal roads and singletrack.

There is no drop bag service, no car shuttles or family moving gear for you. Tent or hammock camping only, no motor homes allowed. We will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner so carrying these meals and cooking supplies on your bike is not necessary. We encourage you to bring your own snacks for riding as convenience stores may be limited. This event is meant to be an introduction to bike packing but riders should be seasoned cyclists and capable of riding up to 50 miles with a loaded bike, in a variety of road conditions. This isn't a ride for beginner cyclists.

The 2026 adventure by bike will be limited to 140 riders with registration only through Bikereg. **Registration date is Saturday April 25th, 2026 at 9am EST. and the event typically sells out every year in less than 15 minutes. We'll email all past participants with more details and the registration opening date reminder.

    Route Info:

The course will be rolling, mainly dirt roads, some two-tracks and seasonal roads with sections of pavement. Depending on the weather, some seasonal roads may be dry and sandy with rutted out sections or muddy. We recommend bikes with 2" tires or larger. The course is on roads open to auto traffic so please use caution at intersections and follow the rules of the road.
