About the event

Baker Lake Classic 25k occurs in a beautiful serene fall setting. Stands of giant old growth trees draped in lichen and covered in moss are some of the highlights along this trail. This trail leads into a majestic stand of douglas fir that regrew after Mt. Baker erupted and started a forest fire in 1843. You can still see the burned snags of the cedar trees that once dominated the area. From north to south, the trail contours the eastern shoreline of Baker Lake, offering glimpses of Mt. Baker. All along the trail spot western trillium, twinflower, foamflower, coralroot and twisted Stalk.Baker Lake Classic 25k was added because of high demand to run a point to point route from the north end of the lake to the south end of the lake. Please plan your schedule so you are at the buses EARLY. I would hate to see anyone miss out on running this great course because they were 5 minutes late for the bus.

Course Description

The Baker Lake Trail Run occurs in a beautiful serene, fall setting. The 50K out and back course offers unique features, beautiful forested trail, and awesome scenery. The run starts in the Kulshan Campground, where campers can enjoy a free campsite the night before the run. Runners leave the campground on a paved road the first quarter mile, which crosses the scenic Upper Baker Dam. Once across, the road turns to gravel for just over a mile, until runners come to the trailhead of the Baker Lake Trail.The 14 mile long, single track trail meanders along the lake with short trips into deep, old growth forest. The trail is rolling, with countless rises and descents, and turns along the hillside. Mossy, slippery footbridges are strategically placed to wake the runner from any lapse in concentration. Fresh, fallen, multicolored maple leaves cover the landscape. Tricky steps across log bridges, and views from bridges over cascading streams, can invite pictures and side trips along the lake.

The Frosty Mountain Ultra on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, This race will take runners to the summit of Frosty Mountain and through stunning alpine meadows. Reaching the true summit at 2,426 m (7,959 ft), the course rewards participants with breathtaking 360-degree views that make every climb worthwhile.

This unforgettable mountain challenge starts and finishes at the picturesque Lightning Lake. There's 3 distances—13k, 27k, or 50k, making the Frosty Mountain Ultra a rewarding experience for both first-time trail racers and seasoned ultrarunners alike.
