Welcome to the City of Hurricane Crush Run to benefit the Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance. Join us on Saturday, February 7th, for the Crush Run Trail 10 miler, 5k run or hike, and Kids' Run. All proceeds go to support further development and maintenance of Meeks Mountain Trails Alliance.

Get Ready to Crush it and catch a glimpse of what the Hurricane Crush Run is all about!

Race details

Packet pickup will be held on Friday, February 6th, from 5:00-6:30 pm and again on Saturday morning from 8:00-10:00 am, at Hurricane City Park's big red barn. All race participants in the 10-miler, 5k, and kids' run can pick up their packets at that time. After 10:00 on Saturday morning, packets will be available for pickup at the starting line in the back of the bowl. There will be signs directing you to the start line.

Bathrooms are available in the park, and portable restrooms will be available at the Start/Finish line.

To reach the start and finish area, you’ll cross an active set of train tracks. Please take your time, look both ways, and stay alert as you cross. Trains do occasionally pass through, but the area will be clearly marked and monitored by safety volunteers to guide you and ensure everyone’s safety.

We appreciate your attention and patience—cross carefully, follow volunteer directions, and you’ll be at the start line in no time, ready to run.

Plan for an extra 15 minutes to walk to the start/finish line.

The 10 miler has a 3-hour time limit, and the last aid station will close at 11:30.

Water and sports drinks are available on the course. The 5k will have one aid station, and the 10-miler will have access to an aid station three times.

Trail Sister Approved Race

We are pleased to be a Trail Sister Approved Race!

Swag and Finish Line

Every runner gets the MMTA Crush Run swag, tote, and finisher award. Expect a finish line bonfire, marshmallows, Orange and Grape Crush, and plenty of hot and ready pizza from our friends at Little Caesars.

Course

The 10-miler, 5k, and Kids Run all begin and end at the new Huntington Federal Shelter at the back of the bowl, which is a 15-minute walk from the parking lot at Hurricane City Park. Each course will be run on hand-built, single-tract trails. Expect it to have rocks, roots, and lots of rolling fun.

The kids' run is approximately 1 mile and begins at the Huntington Federal Shelter and follows pink flags.

Military Discount

To all of our military, first responders, and family members, MMTA says, “Thank you!” We love our faithful service members and their families and appreciate your sacrifice for our country and its people. To show our appreciation, we are offering our service members and families a 15% discount on the Hurricane Crush Run. Enter coupon code “service” at checkout for 15% off your registration.

Awards

Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male and female in the 10-miler and 5k.

Awards will be given for 1st place Crush Two-Person Teams in the 10-miler and 5k.

Please note that if you sign-up for the Crush Two-Person Team and place first, you will NOT win overall awards.

Age group awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers for 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.

The Kids' Run is a fun run with unique finisher awards.

Safety

Safety and EMT will be on call for emergency situations.

Registration

Registration is limited to 125 runners for the 10 miler and 125 for the 5k.

Thanks to our generous local sponsors, the early bird pricing for the kids' run is only $10, the 5k is $30, and the 10 miler is $45 until November 30th. Between December 1 and February 5, registration fees are $10, $40, and $55. Registrations are final, and there are no refunds.

Meeks Mountain Trail Sustainers receive a 10% discount on their race registration fee. Click here to join and become an MMTA Sustainer, or join during race registration.

Run with your Crush

Enter as a two-person team and compete for the lowest overall time for the 10-miler and 5K. The two finishing times will be added together to determine the team time. Pricing will remain the same as above.

Please note that if you sign-up for the Crush Two-Person Team and place first, you will NOT win overall awards, but you will be eligible for age group awards.

    10 Miles // 1,000' of Elevation Gain

The 10 Mile course encompasses a little something for everyone. The first four miles are truly a woodsman's dream as the course takes the runner through deep woods and prime single track. The end of the fourth mile culminates in the arrival of the river trail and the first hydration station. The river trail is both fast and flat. The river trail follows the Guyandotte River for 2.5 miles and will exit to the second aid station. The final 3.5 miles is primarily flat with only one challenging hill to traverse. Once uphill, breathtaking scenery awaits, as the trail overlooks the valley portion of Barboursville Park. The last eight tenths of a mile are downhill to the finish.

    4 Miles // 450' of Elevation Gain

The course for the 4 Miler will be the first 4 miles of the 10 miler. As a warning to prospective runners, the first eight tenths of a mile is uphill and can prove challenging but rewarding. There is no hydration station on the 4 mile course.
