Whether you’re chasing a workout or just here for the carbs, this run is all about balance, fun, and community.
Overview:
Run will sell-out QUICK! We will close off waves the moment they fill up. If waves are sold out, you can sign-up for the virtual run option or wait list.
This is a smaller, private group run with a cap per wave.
All paces and ages (under 18 with guardian) are welcome - Run or Walk!
There's no equipment or setup, this is a pure run with our coordinators to support you in a warm, stress-free setting!
When you sign-up, we give you the support you need to help you achieve your goals and fitness. We also invite you to be part of our local run clubs that supports your fitness journey.
Timing:
Timing is Optional: You may track your time on an app (Strava, RunKeeper, Nike Run, etc) and submit your times with our easy form to be posted online. Or you can ask our coordinators to help keep track of your time.
No timing chips (This is a stress free run to support you in achieving your goals)!

Do you accept last minute registrations? (For those signing up 2 weeks before the race)
Yes, but please note that it takes time for us to ship your shirt. Your shirt will likely arrive after the run. You can wear any shirt you find appropriate to run the race!

The Plaza 10K is Kansas City’s premier stand-alone 10K. This flat and fast course runs along the banks of Brush Creek and through the heart of the iconic Country Club Plaza, making it the perfect race to chase a new PR.
The Plaza 10K benefits Saint Luke's Homecare & Hospice. After the race, enjoy live music, great food from Kansas City restaurants, and a fun post-race celebration near Brush Creek. Participants will also receive a high-quality race shirt and a finisher’s medal.

Thank you for joining us for the 23rd Anniversary of the Kansas City Zoo Run, "Run for the Hornbills!"
The Kansas City Zoo Run is a local favorite, featuring a different species of animal each year.
All participants receive uniquely branded swag associated with the year's featured animal species. In addition to the swag, a portion of each participant's entry fee supports the Friends of the Zoo. The uniquely branded swag that each participant will receive in 2026 includes the following:
Custom designed featured species GO-EX Hornbills t-shirt
Custom Hornbills finisher's medal
Free one-time entry into the Kansas City Zoo that is valid on race day or any day through the end of 2026
If you want to start fundraising after completing your registration, you will need to log into your RunSignUp account and edit your registration. From there, you will be able to choose "Become A Fundraiser" and join in the fun while supporting the Hornbills!

9RUN3 Club launched in January 2025 from The Running Well Store in Mission, Kansas, on the coldest month that could have tested its resolve. Around 50 runners now gather every Friday at 18:30, drawn by a simple promise: show up, run at whatever pace feels right, and belong. There are no qualifying standards, no applications, no prerequisites beyond willingness to lace up. Captain Alex carries the energy that pulls first-timers off the sidewalk and into the group, greeted with warmth rather than indifference. After the run, the crew heads to Sully's for wings and pizza, where running shoes come off and actual friendships form. In a metro where running culture can feel exclusive, 9RUN3 Club has built something genuinely open, proving that the hardest part of joining a crew is often just showing up the first time.
