The Great Jones County 5K Fair Race – “Race Around the Fair”

Get ready to run, explore, and celebrate! The Great Jones County 5K Fair Race, held in collaboration with Monticello Parks and Recreation, offers a one-of-a-kind route that winds around the fairgrounds, past the livestock barns, and along the track, giving runners an early morning's taste of fair excitement. The course continues past the scenic Monticello Golf Course and through Riverside Gardens, showcasing some of the area's most beautiful outdoor spaces. We intend to have a chalked line throughout the course to provide a continuous course with more signs.

Whether you're aiming for a PR or just enjoying the fun, this race is a perfect addition to fair week festivities. Come run with us and experience the fair like never before! The proceeds from this 5K race will directly support adult programming and events in our community year-round.

Participants can walk and/or run. Chip timing will be provided by B & W Racing. Entry to race will include a complementary ticket fair entry!

Fair Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 male/female in each race and age category (9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older)

Online deadline to receive a T-Shirt is July 3, 2026

The Hero Hustle was created in 2016 as a way to raise money to help support the men and women of the Delaware County fire, ambulance, and law enforcement departments. To date, through the participation of our athletes and the generous contributions of our sponsors, the Hero Hustle has been able to give over $77,000 to the people that are always there to save, serve and protect us.

The Hero Hustle welcomes all athletes of all abilities. The goal is to get active, have a good time, and raise money for a good cause! The race is a sprint distance triathlon comprised of a 400yd swim, a 16 mile bike ride, and a 5K run to wrap it up. The swim course will be held in Schram Pond. The bike course is out on a public highway and has rolling hills for most of the course. The run course will be mostly flat, with athletes only having to tackle one hill...at least you get to turn around and run back down it though! The duathlon replaces the swim with a one mile run around Schram Pond followed by the same 16 mile bike ride and 5K.

Athletes are able to do the triathlon as an individual or in a 2-3 person team. Duathlon is an individual event.

The entry fee will get each athlete their race entry, a race t-shirt, a finisher award, and a timing chip.
