We are gearing up for Soldiers Freedom Outdoors 4th annual 5k event, Honoring our Heroes. Please join us for this great cause as we raise awareness of Suicide and PTSD. The location is a little different than years before, but our mission remains the same to “Heal the Hidden Wounds of War” and stop the statistic of 22 a day committing suicide.

The new location is at Camp Meridale in Meridian. This is the home of Soldiers Freedom Outdoors Mississippi location. Here is where we serve military service members, veterans and their families each month and throughout the year. We host many programs such as our weekend retreats, blacksmithing, hunting, fishing and more right here on 170 acres of rolling hills, beautiful terrain and natural springs, all at no cost to them.

Come enjoy all that nature offers while participating in this year's 5k walk/run and 2-mile ruck. This is not a road run like years before. This is an all-terrain event with trails through the woods, hills and uneven ground.

You can enjoy free refreshments and food after the awards ceremony.

All proceeds from the event will go to support service members, veterans and their families through Soldiers Freedom Outdoors (www.soldiersfreedomoutdoors.org) and the many programs that are offered.

The official flower of the military child is the dandelion:

Dandelions put down roots almost anywhere and it is almost impossible to destroy.

It is an unpretentious plant, yet good looking.

It is a survivor in a broad range of climates.

Military children bloom everywhere the winds carry them.

    They are hardy and upright.

Their roots are strong, cultivated deeply in the culture of the Military, planted swiftly and surely.

They’re ready to fly in the breezes that take them to new adventures, new lands, and new friends.

Military children are well-rounded, culturally aware, tolerant, and extremely resilient.

They have learned from an early age that home is where their hearts are.

That a good friend can be found in every corner of the world.

They learn that to survive means to adapt.

That the door that closes one chapter of their life opens to a new and exciting adventure full of new friends and new experiences.
