5k Kids Run Sprint Trail

March 28, 2026 - 9:00 AM

Make waves this Spring with a brand new addition to our 2026 Race Series - Splash Dash!

5K participants run through the neon green of early spring blooms on our trail system with lakefront views and the most picturesque start and finish line in the The Village at Stowe.

NEW! 5K + .5 Mile Kayak Racers will take part in the first ever amphibious race at Stowe! Our amphibians will start out on the 5K course and at about the halfway point, they will veer off course to a beach on Lake Wylie where kayaks will be waiting. Racers will transition to kayak and paddle the loop around Boy Scout Island on Lake Wylie before landing back on the beach. Once on dry land they will finish the 5K course. Don't worry! Competitors will use kayaks, paddles and PFD's provided by Stowe. If you plan to participate, you must read the 5K + Paddle Amphibious Race Info page before registering.

Kids Sprint participants will run the Big Pond Loop! Kids will go all out for a quarter mile sprint around an 8-foot-wide crushed concrete loop. The best part?!?! The loop is visible from The Trailhead Store so parents can give their kiddos a little freedom and cheer them on the entire time if they choose!

Afterwards, hang out at the Trailhead Store before and after the race to enjoy coffee, hydration, beer, wine, and the rest of the weekend full of Outdoors for All activities. Once you’ve cooled down and rehydrated with new friends, racers can enjoy free entry to the Gardens at Stowe to check out Spring and the small pops of color that it brings!

5K - Custom awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups:

20-24

25-29

Amphibious - Custom awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers. Due to the lower capacity of this race option age group awards will not be given.

The River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions Club (RHLW Lions Club) is proud to host the annual Type 1 Diabetes and Childhood Cancer on Saturday, April 25th, 2026.

The net proceeds help support The Lions Club's efforts on behalf of Type I Diabetes and Childhood Cancer Programs.

The event will start and end in beautiful Camp Thunderbird adjacent to the River Hills. It will include a 5K and 10k Runs and a 1-Mile Family Fun Walk.

The 5K and 10k runs and 1-mile family fun walk will be held in the lakeside community of River Hills in Lake Wylie, S.C. Runners will love the challenging course that offers rolling hills, tree lined roads, lake and golf course views.
