Packet pickup is Sunday from 1pm to 5pm at the Franklin Amphitheater and from 7:15am to 8:30 on race day

  • The 2026 Memorial Day Mile run/walk is Monday, May 25, 2026

  • 1 Mile Female and Male competitive races and 1 Mile Family Walk/Jog/Run

  • 9:00am Female Competitive Mile (must be able to run under 10 minutes for 1 Mile)

  • 9:20am Male Competitive Mile (must be able to run under 10 minutes for 1 Mile)

  • 9:40am Family Walk/Jog/Run

  • 10:15am Awards

  • 11:00am Memorial Day Service on the Johnson County Courthouse lawn

  • More participants than any other Mile race in Indiana and the 9th largest Mile race in America. Over 1,000 walkers and runners participated in 2025.

  • Connecting thankful citizens with Memorial Day observance by giving families an opportunity to come together in downtown Franklin to walk/jog/run prior to the annual Memorial Day Service

Additional Information:

  • Every participant receives a Memorial Day Mile t-shirt and a finisher medal

  • Shirt/bib pick up is the Sunday before the race and on race day

  • No shirts or medals will be mailed

  • Water is provided at the finish of the race

  • Restrooms and Porta Johns are located at the start/finish area

  • Sorry, no pets are allowed

    Three 5K's + One Day = The Melt Down! This challenging event is in it's 11th year. Three consecutive 5K's at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Do one, two or all three races! You can decide that day! Races must be done in order (so no fresh runners in race #2 or race #3). If participants are just doing one race it has to be the 8:00 a.m. race. Races must be finished in 1 hour to allow for the start of the next race. Course is on a beautiful wide, smooth, paved trail through two parks and crosses a historical bridge! Indoor restrooms and a fun, free splash pad and playground for the kiddos located right next to the start/finish. Everyone who finishes the first race races receives a custom MELT DOWN medal. Fun HOT, summer themed t-shirts! Awards for top three male/female and top 3 in age groups in the FIRST race only. Also award for the top male and female best COMBINED times of all three races.

This organization provides emotional financial, and spiritual support to families grieving infant or pregnancy loss.
