    The Broughton Castle Sportive 2026

Sunday 28 June 2026 · Broughton Castle, near Banbury

The Broughton Castle Sportive starts and finishes in the historic grounds of Broughton Castle, near Banbury. With four stunning routes — 200km, 160km, 100km, and 40km — winding through the North Cotswold Hills, this is a true test of endurance, teamwork, and determination.

Each route offers a unique challenge, from steady scenic rides to one of the most demanding sportives in the UK.

    Team Rider Challenge

For those who thrive on teamwork and competition, our Team Rider Challenge returns for 2026.

The challenge is open to riders on the 100km, 160km, and 200km routes. Teams must have between 4 and 6 riders, all registered for the same route in advance.

To promote genuine teamwork, the 4th rider’s time determines the team’s overall result — so staying together is part of the strategy!

Winning teams will be awarded trophies at our official presentation evening at Broughton Castle following the event.

    Sportive Routes

    Family Fun Ride – 10km (5.5 miles)

A relaxed, family-friendly loop around the quiet roads and tracks near the castle. No online registration required — entry payable on the day. A perfect introduction to the event atmosphere.

    Cotswold Tour 40 – 40km

A scenic route through the rolling ironstone countryside of North Oxfordshire, passing through Shutford and Epwell.

With a few short climbs and one feed station midway, this route is ideal for newer cyclists looking for a rewarding challenge.

    Cotswold Classic 100 – 100km

A true Cotswold challenge, featuring several classic hill climbs and steady ascents. Expect a testing ride over 3–5 hours with one feed station en route.

Perfect for riders comfortable with distance and elevation.

    Cotswold Endurance 160 – 160km

For riders seeking a serious endurance test. This route features two major hill climbs, three feed stations, and a mix of long drags and sharp climbs that define the Cotswolds.

You’ll need strong legs and stamina to complete this one.

    Cotswold Monster 200 – 200km

Our ultimate challenge — and one of the toughest sportives in the region. Expect steep climbs, relentless undulations, and classic Cotswold hills that demand full commitment.

There are four feed stations to keep you going, but this route is designed for seasoned cyclists who’ve trained for long-distance rides.

    Start window: 6.30–7.00am.

Join us in supporting WaterAid’s vision of making clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere.

Once more, this September there will be a number of cycle rides for WaterAid. These are open to all Anglian Water employees and partner company employees or by invite only (regrettably we are not able to make these rides open to the general public). The rides are not a race, they are about having fun and taking part. Why not set yourself a target to Get Active and join us? Your £40 registration fee includes food to fuel you rides and a customised ride Jersey. We ask that each rider aims to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship.
