The Citizens to Protect Children and the Elderly are holding their 10th Annual 5K walk/run on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. This event is open to all who wish to participate. Each participant will receive a t-shirt.

We have team options and pricing available. Team pricing is subject to the minimum number participants (6). You will need to have 6 people on a team for the guaranteed price structure outlined on the site.

September - Hunger Action Month

For this years race we are wanting to give back to the community. We are asking participants to bring a canned good to the event. For every can you bring you will get a raffle ticket in order to enter into a randomized prize drawing. All canned goods will be donated to the local food pantry.

    The Combustion Brewery Anniversary Beer Mile will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Combustion Brewery & Taproom. The Beer Mile will kickoff a day of fun to celebrate our 9th Anniversary. The Beer Mile will start and finish in the Combustion Brewery parking lot.

    What's a beer mile?

    ​Chug a beer. Run a quarter mile. Chug a beer. Run a quarter mile. Chug a beer. Run a quarter mile. Chug a beer. Run a quarter mile. And then celebrate with your friends as you wait for all four heats to finish. The Beer Mile results will be posted by heat and for the overall finishers.

    ​Here's our rules. No exceptions.

    ​1. You must be age 21 to participate in this event. You will be REQUIRED to have ID with you when you pick up your bib. No ID. No running.

    1. All beer will be provided and poured by Combustion Brewery. No outside beer can be brought in. Beers will be in plastic cups and the actual beer being provided will be a light lager (TBD) announced prior to the event or the alternative to a beer you can choose "Blackberry Crusher" as the gluten free cider.

    ​3. You are REQUIRED to either have a DD (Designated Driver) for the event, or take an Uber (or Lyft or pedicab....) . YES! WE'LL ASK! You will not be able to participate if you do not have a plan, you will not be able to drive home if you participate in the event. An Uber will be called for you.

    The annual Picktown Palooza Freedom 5k takes place on Saturday, July 11, 2026 and is a fun family-friendly event to celebrate the birth of our nation.

    This event is a 5k run that begins at Victory Park and follows the bike path through Sycamore Creek Park. The route continues down Hereford Drive, turning on to Pickering Drive, turns around, and repeats the route back to Victory Park. The distance is 3.1 miles. So be sure to bring the whole family!

    Important Race Day Timeline

    • 7:15 a.m. - Race day registration and check-in opens

    • 8:30 a.m. - Freedom 5K, sponsored by OrthoNeuro STARTS!

    • 9:30 a.m. - Awards presentation (near finish line)

    Awards will be given to the top-3 overall male and top-3 overall female finishers, as well as the top male and top female finishers in each of the following age categories: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up.

    Sign up for the 19th annual Dr. Bender 5K Classic! This year's race again has in-person and virtual options for participation. Those who wish to participate in person can do so on the morning of Saturday, July 18th, at Canal Winchester High School. Race morning will consist of our traditionally fast and competitive 5K race, as well as separate Girls and Boys 1 Mile Fun Runs (suggested for ages 12 & under). A virtual 5K event will also be available for those who are not able or choose not to participate in the in-person race. As always, proceeds from registration and sponsorships from this year's event will directly benefit the boys and girls cross country teams at Canal Winchester High School.

    Hope For The Warriors® is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.

    Heroes for Heroes is a fundraiser the Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Reynoldsburg Division of Police created to benefit Hope for the Warriors®. The Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the 5K Obstacle Course where 1 to 2 person teams or individuals will compete together running an obstacle course including walls, low crawls, traversing through water, mud pits, Israeli sked pull, and tire flips among others. Public Safety, Military personnel as well as citizens from all over Ohio are invited to compete in this challenge.

    Alongside the obstacle course 5K, Heroes for Heroes is now also offering a traditional 5K paved course. This is a paved path through Civic Park that you can run or walk. There no obstacles on this course. Strollers are welcome as well!
