1 Miles 10k 5k Fun Run Run Walk

About the Race

The Feet of Jesus Race is a community 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, 5K, and 10K designed to bring people together for movement, purpose, and impact. Whether you’re a competitive runner, casual walker, or bringing the whole family for the fun run, this event is about taking steps that matter.

All proceeds from this race directly support Fifth Gospel Equine, a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing equine-assisted programs for individuals recovering from trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges. Through horsemanship, mentorship, and the power of the Holy Spirit, lives are being restored and hope is being rebuilt. Your participation helps make healing accessible to those who need it most.

When you lace up your shoes, you’re not just running — you’re helping someone else take their next step toward freedom.

We are thrilled to announce that we are bringing Wyatt's Walk and Run back this year to benefit Empower Me Center!!! Empower Me Center has made such an incredible impact on Wyatt and our family over the last several years! They provide much needed recreational and educational services for our local special needs community through a variety of year round programs and activities. Their summer day camp is something Wyatt looks forward to all year long, and is a Godsend for working parents like us! Empower Me Center gives children and families like ours opportunities to meaningfully participate in the community with their peers. The Empower Me Center team is truly like a family to us, and I don't know how we would make it without them. With that said, there are so many other families that need this support and the ability to be a part of this growing organization and family! Empower Me Center is in the process of beginning construction of their state of the art facility here in Wilson County,

and we couldn't be more excited. This will include a huge recreational facility, sports complex, and eventually multi-living facility offering housing opportunities. Through raising a child with special needs, our eyes have truly been opened to the dire need for facilities and services like this. We have been fortunate enough to be involved with Empower Me since Wyatt was very young, but the truth is that without this facility, they just cannot meet all of the needs of all of the families that are out there. We want to change that! We want to give all individuals and families that are affected by a disability a place to feel and call home. A place where they can be their selves and truly live their best lives. Please join us on June 20th to support this incredible organization and their mission for the future!

The Capt. Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial hosts the annual Top Gun Night Run 6k on Friday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Victory Recreation Park in Smyrna. The 3.7 mile course includes the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport and Smyrna Municipal golf course with the finish line at the memorial. Spectators and runners will enjoy live music and vendors in the park. The run will be chip-timed and USATF certified and limited to only 650 participants.

On June 2, 2016, our nation was deeply impacted by the plane crash of USMC Captain Jeff Kuss during the US Navy Blue Angels performance at the Great Tennessee Air Show, in Smyrna. Following this tragedy, the Smyrna community and Blue Angels fans around the country mourned and showed an outpouring of support for the Kuss Family. Town of Smyrna officials called upon the community to help establish a living memorial in tribute to the life, honorable service, and high ideals exhibited by Captain Kuss. The illuminated memorial is located in Smyrna’s Lee Victory Park along the beautiful greenway across from the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport. As centerpiece to the memorial, the National Naval Aviation Museum has generously provided, on permanent loan to the Town of Smyrna, recently retired Blue Angel F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, BUNO 163498, which depicts Captain Kuss’ plane number 6.

Proceeds from the annual Top Gun Night Run 6k are applied directly to ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial in addition to funding the Memorial Scholarship created in 2023.
