WHAT'S THE BUZZ?

The Buzz Marathon is a Boston qualifying race, hosted at Camp Roberts California National Guard Installation. This annual event includes; A full marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5k, and a kids 1-mile run. Proceeds of this event help fund the Paso Robles Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) with their mission of supporting Veterans and veteran services. The VFW provides services to support the wellbeing of Veterans and their families. The goal of the VFW is to connect veterans to resources, support them with VA Claim connections through the VA, and continue to build comraderies.

CAMP ROBERTS ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

All participants and visitors must comply with base access protocols

Drivers are required to provide:

  • Real ID (or valid government-issued ID)

  • Current vehicle registration and proof of insurance

  • ALL VEHICHLES ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH AND SEIZURE

All other visitors or passengers (ages 16 and above) are also required to provide a Real ID or government-issued identification.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Runners will start at the heart of the Camp Roberts instillation, heading northeast through diverse terrain and varying elevations. Along the way, participants will take in breathtaking scenic views, with chances to spot local wildlife such as elk, deer, and the elusive kit fox.

The course also offers a unique blend of natural beauty and history, featuring glimpses of California wildflowers and historic military landmarks that highlight the rich heritage of Camp Roberts.

AID STATIONS

Aid stations are positioned approximately every two miles, with additional placements at key turns to help guide runners along the correct route.

Stations are located at the following mile markers:

  • 1.6

  • 3.6

  • 5.1

  • 6.55 (Half Marathon Turnaround)

  • 8.0

  • 9.9

  • 12.0

  • 13.12 (Full Marathon Turnaround)

Each station is stocked with water, Powerade, bananas, oranges, energy gels, and latrines.

PARKING

Parking on Convoy Parking Lot on California Blvd and Montana Blvd. Short walk to the start/finish line.

AWARDS

All participants will receive a T-shirt and a finisher medal. Awards ceremony will be held at noon, where we’ll present a plaque to the overall first-place male and female in each race.

PACKET PICKUP

The Camp Roberts MWR will be hosting packet pickup at the Phoenix Recreation Center (Building 6083), located approximately 75 yards from the Start/Finish line at the corner of Arizona and California Blvd.

Packet pickup and security clearance will be available:

  • Tuesday to Friday, March 17th – 20th, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Race Day – Saturday, March 21st, 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Participants are strongly encouraged to check in early during the Tuesday–Friday window to complete security clearance and avoid race-day delays.

On site reg available for $20 extra 3/17 - 3/20 10AM-4PM

    Run the Coast. Honor a Legacy. Experience the Central Coast at its Best!

    Join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026, for the 56th annual Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Fun Run and the 12th annual Rock’n Around the Pier Half Marathon, starting at 8:00 AM.

    Set against the stunning backdrop of the Central Coast, both events begin at Morro Rock and take runners along the shoreline for an unforgettable beach-running experience.

    Event Options

    Rock to Pier Fun Run (6 miles)

    Run from Morro Rock to the iconic Cayucos Pier, finishing right at the pier. This beach run is open to all ages and abilities—perfect for seasoned runners and first-timers alike.

    Rock’n Around the Pier Half Marathon

    A challenging and scenic out-and-back course starting at Morro Rock, heading to the Cayucos Pier, and returning south. At mile 10.5, runners will detour through Cloisters Park before finishing back at Morro Rock.

    Course closes at 12:00 PM.

    Race Day Details

    Both events start at 8:00 AM

    Water/Aid Stations throughout course!

    Expect wet shoes—this is a true beach run!

    Post-race breakfast and awards at Morro Rock

    Bus transportation provided from Cayucos Pier back to Morro Rock for Rock to Pier participants

    Parking is limited in Cayucos; ample parking available at Morro Rock (arrive early!)

    Limited shirt sizes available (some sizes sold out)

    Dogs are not allowed on the course due to Snowy Plover nesting season
