Whether you're running competitively or strolling at a leisurely pace, you can bring your leashed dog along for the fun if you like. It's all about having a great time while supporting ARK's important work in the community. If you can't join us for the 5K, you can still order our snazzy race tee to help support ARK.

Prices - Adults - $35 and Youths (ages 4 - 14) - $30. Early Bird special - get $10 off registration if you sign up by March 15, midnight. We'll do our best, but we can't guarantee t-shirts for entries after this date.

Group Discount - Get a group together - church family, extended family, work buddies, sports teams, school clubs, social clubs, good friends - and save $5 on registrations with a group of 10 or more. A prize is offered for the largest group, so start recruiting! (Discounts adjusted after your team gets 10 members.)

The funds raised by the race will be used for ARK's work in the community: continued support and expansion of the Hart County Animal Shelter, ARK's feline foster/adoption program, Trap-Neuter-Return program for stray cats, spay/neuter/rabies vouchers to reduce the number of unwanted pets, educational outreach to develop the next generation of leaders, and providing information and solutions for pets and pet owners through social media. Any optional donations you provide are also truly appreciated, so we can continue helping animals. Learn more on ARK's website or on our Facebook page: ARK for Hart.

Please support our wonderful sponsors. (Click on their logos for more info.) They are committed to helping us improve animal welfare in Hart County. Shop locally and thank our sponsors for their continued support.

April is Amputee Awareness Month. May 2026 will mark 5 years that I have been an amputee. This event was created to raise awareness and support two groups that are important to me. When I was in high school, I was a member of the track and cross-country teams. Before my accident, I enjoyed running as a stress reliever and for exercise. Working with kids is another passion of mine. Nothing was going to stop me from getting back to teaching even after becoming an amputee. Camp No-Limits is a camp for children who deal with being an amputee (https://www.nolimitsfoundation.org/). With your help, I will be able to offer scholarships for children who may struggle with the cost of attending camp. This event will raise funds to help both Camp No-Limits and the Green County Track team.

All events will be held on the track. The walk begins at 9:00am cst. Primary age "Littles Lap" begins at 9:30 cst. Intermediate age "Littles Lap" begins after Primary race.

We will award the runner for Primary and Intermediate ages for the "Littles Lap".

    Medals will also be given to first runner for each grade - K, 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.

Big news this year: Light The Night 5K is now a THREE-race series!

CASA of the Heartland will host the Light the Night 5K: Superhero Walk/Run on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Elizabethtown Sports Park. Our goal is to raise awareness for the most vulnerable children in our community—and use this night to pay tribute to our local heroes who protect and serve. This event is a celebration of those hometown heroes, and a chance for all of us to show up for kids who need someone in their corner.

And now, the mission goes even farther with two more races:

    Meade County — June 5, 2026

    Grayson County — August 21, 2026

Working together across all three events, we’re aiming to provide every child victim in Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson, LaRue, and Meade counties with a CASA volunteer advocate—and hope for a better future.
