About this event

The Race

Just north of Houston, the 96-mile Lone Start Hiking Trail winds its way through the beautiful Sam Houston National Forest.Sam's Last Stand is a fatass-style race across the entire LSHT. Starting at Trailhead 1 on the western terminus of the trail, runners will have 36 hours to reach Trailhead 15 near Cleveland.We will provide minimal water along the course and allow drop bags. The rest is up to you.

Course Information

This is not a for-profit race; the registration fee will help us cover costs, and any leftover funds will be donated to the LSHT Club.The LSHT is mostly marked with 2” x 4” aluminum markers and wooden directional signs. Markers with colored bands distinguish connecting trails and should NOT be followed for this event. Follow the LSHT signs and know the route! Respect other hikers. On road sections, stay on the left side facing traffic, as close to the edge of the road as possible. Watch out for nature (spiderwebs, poison ivy, hogs, coyotes). Anticipate aggressive farm dogs!Some recommended gear for safety: rain jacket/poncho, gloves, beanie, 500 extra calories.ALL runners must have the route loaded on their phone and be able to show proof of this at bib pickup or at the race start.

    The 23rd Annual Oilman Texas Triathlon is southeast Texas' favorite locally-produced Half Iron Distance Triathlon. New last year was the Sprint distance triathlon, offering more options to more athletes.

The Sprint distance will include a 500 meter swim, 11 mile bike and a 5k run through the Margaritaville neighborhoods and golf course.

    This race follows a “last man standing” format. Runners must complete a 5K lap every 50 minutes. Each lap must be finished before the 50-minute timer reaches zero. When the timer hits zero, a new 5K lap begins for all remaining runner.

    Known as the perfect trail running course for veteran runners wanting a 100mile P.R., as well as the perfect race for rookie ultra runners wanting a good setup to accomplish their goal. Expect frequent and incredible (known around the world) aid station support all day and night. Generous cut-offs. A fun atmosphere for family, friends, and awaiting crew members with 5 x 20 mile beautiful loops around the lake, over wooden bridges, and through the tall pines. Gently undulating trails on a bed of pine needles. Don't let the name fool you, you don't have to worry about rocks on this course, but keep your eyes on the tree roots grabbing at your feet.

    While every racer will get some cool swag, January 5 is the deadline to get a shirt. If you register after Jan. 5, you will get some cool Race Swag. This could be a variety of items like a trucker cap, neck gaiter, etc. It will be a cool Swag Item!

    Rocky Raccoon 100 Endurance Trail Race PARTICIPANT CAPS: Due to a limited amount of space at Huntsville State Park, all Rocky Racoon 100 races have a participant cap. Register early as these races both sell out and go to Wait list.

    Rocky Raccoon 100 mile and 100km both start on Saturday, February 6, 2027.
