    Melmerby Triathlon

    A scenic triathlon along the beautiful Northumberland Shore. A great race for first-timers and elite triathletes alike! The event consists of a Try-A-Tri, Super Sprint, Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlon. The day truly does offer something for everyone and teams welcome in all events.

    *The Super Sprint is the same distance as the Try-A-Tri but is a Timed Event, the Try-A-Tri is Not Timed.

    Swim

    • The swim is a rectangle swim, the long sides run parallel to the shore and will be as close to shore as we can set it up

    • The swim course will be a loop course - one loop for the Sprint, two for the Olympic and a partial for the Try-A-Tri and Super Sprint

    Bike

    • All Events are an out and back

    Run

    • This is a loop course and you stay on the beach road and use the trails at the end of the beach road

    • Sprint is one loop, up and back, and the Olympic is two loops up and back, the Try-A-Tri / Super Sprint is 1 Km up and 1 Km back

    • The run for all events is “Pancake Flat” and the trails offer full shade

    Important Notice Concerning The Transition Area

    To control traffic for the safety of our participants on the bike portion of the race route and in the transition area itself, please note that the transition area will remain Closed until 11:00 AM or until ALL BIKES are re-racked. Please plan to stay at the event and cheer on your fellow athletes until the transition area reopens at 11:00 am.

    Distance Options

    ~10KM & 265 M elevation: North Shore Fire Hall to Cape George Lighthouse

    ~21KM & 720 M elevation: North Shore Fire Hall, looping back along the lowering Heritage and Goat trail, then ending at the Cape George Lighthouse

    Friday September 25, 2026: 5:00-7:00PM at Coastal Chiropractic

    Saturday September 26, 2026: 7:30-8:15AM at North Shore Fire Hall

    Race Day Schedule:

    8:30AM: 10KM and 21KM Race Start

    Awards will be right after the 10KM and 21KM finish

    Course Information

    There will be two aid stations along the course for the 21KM, and one for the 10KM. The aid stations will have water and a first aid provider. This will be a manually timed race. There will be transport available from the finish line (Cape George Lighthouse) to the start (North Shore Fire Hall). No dogs allowed during the race but welcome at the finish line!

    10KM route: Firehall Connector (North heading) ➜ Lighthouse trail

    21KM route: Firehall Connector (South heading) ➜ Goat trail (East heading) ➜ Heritage trail ➜ Bubbling springs trail ➜ Bubbling springs connector ➜ Goat trail ➜ Fire Hall Connector (North heading) ➜ Lighthouse trail

    SAGSAR is a fully volunteer-run, non-profit organization committed to delivering the highest level of response when someone goes missing in a wilderness setting. We cover the largest geographic area of any SAR team in Nova Scotia. Our dedicated volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Guided by the SAR motto, "so others may live," every donation we receive directly supports our ability to mobilize, reach remote areas, and assist those in need.
