All parents, students, and community members are invited to participate in the 6th annual Johnson Elementary School "Race to the Finish" Color Run on March 14th at ROSSFORD PARK! The event will support Johnson Elementary School and provide a day of healthy, colorful fun for the entire community! 🏃🏾🏃🏾🏃🏾

The race distance is approx. 1 mile—perfect for everyone from youngest siblings to grandparents. There will be 3 start times to choose from:

  • 1:00 p.m

  • 1:20 p.m.

  • 1:40 p.m.

Registration is $20 for individuals or $70 for families of 4 or more who reside in the same household. To take advantage of this deal for your immediate family, simply add each person that you're registering and then select Family Rate from the Multi-Person Pricing drop down menu. (Make sure to do so before signing the waiver!)

Register by February 20th and receive an official Color Run T-shirt AND a slice of pizza. Our race t-shirts, featuring this year's logo, come in white—a perfect blank canvas for the sea of colors you're about to run through! In honor of PI Day, we will also include a pizza ticket for our early bird registrants. Signing up after February 20th? No problem! Registrations are still welcome beyond February 20th and even on race day. Just know that a T-shirt and pizza are not included with your registration fee.

After completing the race, all participants are invited to stay for food, fun, and entertainment! At the finish line, head over to the warming zone to grab a slice of pizza PI (for registrants before Feb. 20) and purchase a hot chocolate to warm up! Don't forget dessert—grab a waffle from Johnson-family-favorite Marty's Waffles!

Other than a white shirt to show off your colors, consider dressing along with this year's theme: St. Patrick's Day! Dust off those green tutus, emerald glasses, and chartreuse socks. ☘️🌈

Did you know? Sponsorships come with FREE registration for immediate family members! Learn more here.

⭐ FIFTH GRADE SPECIAL: Make your 5th graders last Color Run extra special by adding on the Trailblazer Package! Johnson 5th graders can show off their leadership and blaze the trail! (Only available to 5th grade Johnson students.) ⭐

We look forward to seeing everyone on race day, and we thank you in advance for your support!

    • 🌳 Is a scenic walk more your pace? You can do that, too!

    • 🏁 It doesn't matter how you cross the finish line.

    Race Day Schedule

    • Packet Pickup Begins: 8:30am

    • Race Begins: 9:00am

    • Post-Race Festivities (Including Breakfast): 9:30am

    About the Event

The Sap Run is a scenic, slightly hilly neighborhood 5K route, held about every spring since 1989 to help raise money for Kennedy Heights Community Council and its efforts to support the neighborhood.

Since this typically takes place a month before Flying Pig Weekend, many participants use this as a light training opportunity. Others use this as an opportunity to casually walk the route and catch up with friends, family, and neighbors.

The races are timed, but this is an intentionally low-stress, small field race, ending with breakfast and fun activities for all ages inside.

First held in 1915 as a test of marching endurance for soldiers in the Norwegian Military. A strategic goal was to be able to move larger units of troops over a great distance swiftly and in a manner that enabled them to efficiently be combat ready even after the march by carrying their rucksack /weaponry of 11 kg.

The goal today is to stimulate the general interest of marching over extended distances amongst military and civilian personnel.

The test consists of a 30km/18.6mile march (march/run) with rucksack containing 11kg (24 lbs). There is no longer a requirement to carry your rifle.

Approved military uniform must include field uniform and military grade boots. The uniform must be within regulation during the march. Civilian events and where civilians partake in a military setting, civilian clothing is allowed i.e., long trousers and boots.

Rucksack with content must weigh in at minimum 11 kg/24 lbs. at both start and finish line.

NOTE: water weight will not be included in weighing, this should be accounted for prior to step off. Rucksack/backpack of military grade. Civilian participants can use a civilian version of rucksack, which may include hiking backpacks, GoRuck bags, or any other variation so long as it has waist belt capabilities.

Control of outfit and weighing of backpack is done prior to and after the march to ensure the correct weight and requirements have been maintained.

Assistance from non-participants is prohibited, except for timing, weighing, on hydration/food stations, and first aid.

If any clarifying information is needed for uniform and rucksack regulations, please contact CDT Davis (davisz2@mail.uc.edu)

All participants will begin the ruck at 0700. Those with an anticipated pace of 10 – 11 minutes will locate at the front, followed by 11-12, 12-13, 13-14, 14-15, 15+ which will allow for proper spacing and rucker distribution
