The Knysna Extreme Triathlon is not for the faint-hearted. Set along South Africa's Garden Route, this point-to-point race is a true test of endurance, offering a pure triathlon experience with no sugar coating, no hand holding, and no fanfare. The athletes begins with a 5km swim in the Knysna Estuary, followed by a grueling 174km bike route that spans coastal, mountain, and semi-desert landscapes. The final segment is a 50km run, traversing windy mountain passes, lush plantations and ending in the dense Knysna forest. This race demands more than physical stamina; it requires mental fortitude and emotional resilience. Each triathlete is supported by a dedicated companion who assists with mechanical, nutritional, and emotional support along the way, making it a shared journey of accomplishment. The Knysna Extreme Triathlon is about testing one’s limits and celebrating the triumph over nature’s challenges.
