The 17th Annual Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival (RGWF) features whitewater competitions and land-based recreation events to celebrate the whitewater season. Enjoy summer flows in a fantastic whitewater setting in historic Cañon City, Colorado. Held in the refurbished and family-friendly Centennial Park, the Whitewater Festival pairs boats, bands, and beer for a weekend of fun-filled (and whitewater-fueled) events. It's the biggest party of the summer in Cañon City and one not to be missed. It's all about "Boats, Bands, Bikes, and Beer!"

Choose from whitewater events, running events, or biking events. Each event will list the experience level needed. Events range from beginner-friendly to experienced only. There's something for everyone at the Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival! All event participants will receive FREE entry to the festival on the day of their event.

    Start Details

    Location: Limekiln Trailhead

    Start Time: 7:00 AM (staggered start)

    25K first, 10K next, 5K last

    Fastest runners will start first with their race distance and walkers last.

    All races are chip timed.

    Poles: Not allowed.

    Since July 2002, The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey has been attracting visitors from Colorado and all over the world. Striving to produce the best Colorado Wine, the winery is located on the pastoral and serene grounds of The Holy Cross Abbey, nestled against the spectacular backdrop of the Wet Mountains. So please join us for this new event and whether you are looking to run, walk or just enjoy the wine this race is a sure thing for a great time and an incredible experience!     Get ready for a ROYALly GORGEous experience! Whether you’re tackling the 5K, the 8-mile trail run, or the half marathon trail run, this event offers something truly special. All three races feature the exhilarating opportunity to run across America’s highest suspension bridge, the iconic Royal Gorge Bridge, with breathtaking views of one of Colorado’s most stunning landscapes.

    But it’s not just about the race — it’s about the cause. All proceeds benefit Starpoint, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, as well as children and their families. When you run the Royal Gorge Races, you’re running for more than just a personal challenge; you’re making a difference in the lives of others.

    Your registration includes free entrance into the historic Royal Gorge Bridge & Park (on race day). Family members will receive a $10 discount. After the race, we want you to slow down, relax, and take in the unique views that our region has to offer.

    There is a FREE KIDS’ race.

    The 5K is stroller friendly. All races are dog friendly, but only if your dog is friendly.

    Race Day Morning Packet Pickup: Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 7 AM to Race Start

    Packet pickup will also be available on race day morning. Simply head to parking lot B upon your arrival, and make your way to the welcome table located on the side of the parking lot. We'll be ready to assist you and ensure you're all set for the event!
