The Chisholm Gravel Roundup

Ride the Legend. Race the Trail.

Get ready to herd your bike through history! The Chisholm Gravel Roundup takes you on a journey along the historic corridors of the Chisholm Trail. Starting in the classic town of Saint Jo, TX, this route heads west toward Nocona and Ringgold, traversing the very same dusty paths where millions of longhorns were once driven to market in the late 19th century.

This is quintessential North Texas gravel: rolling hills, historic county roads, and big sky views. Whether you are looking to race the clock or just enjoy a day in the saddle, come see if you have the grit to complete the drive.

Route Options & Format

We are offering three distances to suit your endurance level. Unlike some of our self-navigated adventures, this is a fully supported race format.

Distances: 90 Miles, 65 Miles, and 45 Miles.

Navigation: ALL routes will be fully marked with course arrows.

Timing: ALL distances will be timed.

Support & Amenities

We will keep the herd moving with plenty of support:

On Course: Water tables will be stationed at key points along the route to keep you hydrated. The route also passes accessible convenience stores for any specific refueling needs.

Post-Ride: Celebrate your finish! We will have cold soft drinks and snacks waiting for everyone at the finish line in Saint Jo.

    GRAVELMAX 001: THE DISTANCE

The Butterfield Overland Edition Start/Finish: 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery (Muenster, TX) Distance: 300ish, 210ish, 130ish Miles

THE MISSION Before you tackle the Unbound XL, the Arkansas High Country, or the Divide, you need to know if you can go The Distance.

This is the inaugural GravelMax Adventure. We are tracing the historic Butterfield Overland Mail Route, the original 1850s "highway" across the West. Just like the stagecoaches of old, we will be connecting remote outposts, battling the elements, and relying on grit to get from station to station.

THE ROUTE: Over 300 MILES OF TEXAS HISTORY This isn't just a loop; it’s a tour of the best gravel North Texas has to offer.

The Terrain: We traverse the rugged escarpments of the Red River, the deep woods of the Cross Timbers, and the rolling ranch lands of Jacksboro.

The Highlights: You will hit the legendary Bugscuffle, the climb up High Point, the remote roads of Cundiff, and the scenic 4R Ranch property.

The Surface: A mix of fast hardpack, chunky B-roads, and forgotten county lanes.

THE SUPPORT MODEL: "THE FLOATING CARAVAN" This is semi-supported in a way you haven't seen before. Instead of static aid stations that pack up while you are still riding, our Support Van acts as a Floating Relay Station.

Leapfrog Support: The van will move ahead of the lead group to designated public campsites/relay points along the route.

The Oasis: When the van is at a relay point, it is open for water, ice, mechanical triage, and morale boosting.

The Safety Net: If you crack, you can camp at the relay spot until help arrives. There are also motels and additional camping along the route as well as plenty of opportunities for resupply.

Tent camping is availble at relay sites for all distances.

    PREREQUISITES

Navigation: You must have a GPS unit capable of running a 300-mile track. There are NO course markings.

Lighting: You will be riding at night. Primary light, backup light, and helmet light are mandatory.

Membership: Current Club Spinistry members only.

    The Red River Riot

The Original. The Definition of Long, Hard & Dirty.

Since 2010, this is the ride that started everything for Spinistry. The Red River Riot isn't just another gravel event; it's the foundation of our philosophy. It defines our motto: Long, Hard & Dirty.

Staging from the spectacular 4R Ranch Vineyards and Winery, this event plunges you into the heart of the "North Texas Hill Country" north of Muenster. Forget what you think you know about Texas flatlands—this region delivers relentless rollers, rugged terrain, and stunning vistas.

    The Challenge

Make no mistake: this is NOT a beginners' ride. We offer three distances, and none of them are easy. This is a test of grit, endurance, and self-reliance.

Route Options: 100 Miles, 100 Kilometers (62 miles), and 45 Miles.

Self-Supported Ethos: This is considered a self-supported ride. You are responsible for your own navigation, mechanicals, and well-being. We will provide neutral water tables along the route, but come prepared to take care of yourself.

Navigation: All distances will be marked, but we highly recommend all riders also utilize a GPS unit for navigation, just in case.

    The Venue

Enjoy the incredible hospitality and scenery of the 4R Ranch Vineyards and Winery. It’s the perfect spot to stage a brutal day in the saddle and celebrate your survival afterward.

    Spinistry Club Member Perks

(Discounts are automatically applied at checkout based on your current membership status).

    What Is OUTLAST?

OUTLAST is a 6-hour trail endurance challenge where runners complete a 5K every hour, on the hour. Each lap must be finished within the hour to stay in the event. If you finish early, you rest until the next round. Miss a lap, and you’re out.

Complete all six rounds, and you OUTLAST.

This isn't just about speed — it's about pacing, discipline, and mental grit. Whether you're trying to survive all six or win your division, the challenge is the same: show up each hour, push your limits, and stay in it.

Each course is trail-based, with natural terrain, elevation, and unpredictable conditions. You’ll have time between rounds to recover, refuel, and refocus — but not much.

    What You Earn:

4 laps = “Grit Earned” patch

    5 laps = “Survivor” patch

6 laps = Premium “OUTLAST” medal

All participants receive a premium OUTLAST Tee.

Top male and female with the fastest combined 5K times at each event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award.

Finishers are ranked on the national leaderboard—and the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events will be crowned National Champion and take home $1,000.

The 1st Place Male and Female 6-hour champions from this race will take home $1000 each. (This is separate from the national leaderboard prize money.)

By the end of the 2026-2027 tour, the top 100 best times nationally will be invited to also compete in the Outlast Championship in 2027.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to run all 6 laps?

Nope. Run as many as you can. If you complete 4 or 5, you'll still earn a patch. Only those who finish all 6 get the OUTLAST medal and leaderboard ranking.

What happens if I don’t finish a lap in time?

You're out. The next lap starts at the top of the next hour, and only those who completed the last lap on time can continue.

    How is the race timed?

Each 5K is timed individually. If you complete all 6, your combined time counts toward the local win and national leaderboard.

Are these trail races or road?

Every OUTLAST race is on trail terrain — dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation. Sometimes some pavement and gravel.

    Can I walk?

Yes, as long as you finish the 5K within the hour. But some courses are rugged, and time can sneak up on you.

    Are there aid stations?

Yes. There will be water, basic hydration, and snacks at the basecamp/loop start. This is a cupless event — bring your own bottle or hydration system.

    What should I bring?

Trail shoes, hydration system, layers (weather dependent), fuel between laps, and grit.

    Can I setup a tent?

Absolutely, bring your own aid station/tent setup.

    Is OUTLAST for beginners?

Yes — if you're mentally tough. You don’t need to be fast, just consistent and ready to suffer a little.

    How do I win?

If you finish all 6 laps and have the fastest combined time, you win your division (male/female). Winners are also added to the national leaderboard for a shot at the $1,000 national prize & title.
