1 Miles 3.1 Miles 5k Run Virtual Walk

Join us on Sunday, March 29th, 2026 for the 7th annual Strides for Adam 5k run, walk and 1 mile reflection walk. We are also offering a virtual event for those that are unable to participate in-person.

Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED. On Dec 26, 2018 this unfortunate statistic affected Adam Holten, his family, extended family, friends and the community. We lost a very good person to suicide. Adam affected many people’s lives with his presence, his smile, his laughter, his handshakes and his ability to reach out and lift other people up.

Since his passing we have created a non profit organization: Strides for Adam. This is our 7th year hosting a 5K race to continue his legacy of service to others and keep his memory alive.

Pricing:

Early registration is $30 for those over age 18, through March 15th, price goes up to $35 through March 28th. $40 on Race Day (online registration only - no paper registrations).

Early registration is $25 for those ages 18 and under, through March 15th, price goes up to $30 through March 28th. $35 on Race Day (online registration only - no paper registrations)

Groups of 3 or more who register at the same time get $5 off of each registration

Race Swag! Finisher medals and t-shirts for participants. This years medal is in the shape of a honeycomb, with the race colors of black and yellow. The reason for the race colors, the honeycomb, the 16 bees running with the picture of Adam in the sunlight… it all has significance. Adam was 16 when he left us and he was fascinated by bees. We like the symbol of bees because they symbolize a community working together. This race, this event is not just any race, it is done to honor someone that served others. With your support and the support of sponsors and volunteers, we support high school graduates moving on to start their education towards a career in service to others.

T-shirts are guaranteed thru March 15th, supplies available after that date as they last.

The Running To Honor 5K is a timed, family friendly walk (or run) focused on keeping the memory of our Fallen Soldiers & Veterans alive and reminding others that Freedom is never free. The event will take place on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 inside Heritage Park located at 12111 Pardee Rd, Taylor, MI 48180. The start time of the 5K walk (or run) is 8:00 AM in front of the Sheridan Pavilion. The Kids .5K will start at 7:30 AM.

The theme this year is military Veteran mental health. Every day there are 20 to 22 Veterans losing their battle with PTSD. That is a nice way of saying that they intentionally or unintentionally took their own lives. We are hoping we can educate others in the community about how Veterans go from serving our country to ending their lives way too early and more importantly what everyone can do make a difference in the life of a military Veteran so that tomorrow seems a little brighter for them.

We will also be saying the names of all of our Fallen Soldiers and Fallen Veterans before the 5K and walking (or running) in memory of them.

The Taylor Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4422, My Warriors Place and Running To Honor organizations will receive the proceeds raised from this event.

We recognize that families want to bring their kids to the Running To Honor 5K but the registration cost might be too much or their kids might not be able to walk (or run) 3.1 miles. As a result we have two events for kids 14 and under! We offer a special discounted price for the 5K walk (or run) and a .5K (that is Point 5K) which is roughly .31 miles. The hope is that this will encourage families to come out and support the cause.

If you can't walk (or run) just come out and enjoy the atmosphere and look at the names and picture of those Fallen Soldiers and Fallen Veterans that we have lost.
