    We invite you to join us in our 2026 JSL 5K/Fun Run. Our fun run will occur at MacLean Park in Lake Jackson, TX, on Saturday, April 25, 2026. We will feature both 5K and kids run courses, with all finishers receiving medals! Hosted by the Junior Service League members, the fun run will benefit Southern Brazoria County high school graduates and women who are re-entering the workforce and attending Brazosport College after a break in education by providing annual scholarship awards.

We will also be awarding 1st - 3rd Kids 1K (ages 2 - 10), champion dog walker, champion dual runner and champion team categories. We will also have a music, silent auction, treats for finishers, and food trucks.

    Support Newspapers in Education

    The Daily News Press Run provides support to the Newspapers in Education program (NIE). NIE provides resources that use the newspaper to develop reading comprehension skills, critical thinking, and a better understanding of the way the world relates to the classroom. We have a waiting list of teachers who want to join and need your help to make the program a success for the upcoming school year.

    Parking Information

    Runners' parking is available at Target Parking Lot 6128 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77551. Shuttle buses will run from 5:00 am to noon. Please allow yourself ample time to get checked in and warm up.

    Bag Drop Off

    Bag drop is available at the info station for a $5 donation to Newspapers In Education program.

    Costume Contest

    Dress up as your favorite book character as we celebrate Literacy Day with our Smart Family Literacy, Inc. Partners. The first, second, and third place winners will win a special prize donated by local merchants. The contest is divided into two groups children and adults. A panel will judge the costumes
