5k Run/walk at the Drayton Plains Nature Center. Cost is $35 and includes a race T-Shirt. Proceeds go to The Coffee Bucket , Blessings in a Backpack and Waterford Youth Assistance. Race day registration starts at 8:00am. The race starts at 9:00am. Awards to the first 3 males and first 3 females.

This is a beautiful flat and fast course run on wide groomed trails through the nature center with plenty to see and do for participants and spectators.

    Join us on the beautiful cross country course at Hess-Hathaway. This course includes trails, hills and a puddle (or two) and a flat finish. All are welcome from seasoned racers with eyes set on a PR to walkers interested in some great exercise in some great scenery.

    Proceeds from the event will go to both Hugs from David and On a Dragonfly's Wing to support local charities and programs that focus on creating stronger, more resilient people while educating about suicide prevention.

    Join us for our third annual Tails & Trails 5K! The race is open to participants of all ages and will kick off with a Cat Walk 1K at 10am (dogs and cats are welcome in both races). The 5K race begins at 10:30am and will take runners along Independence Oaks’ beautiful trails. A family fun zone and other activities for participants to enjoy will be on site for the duration of the race along with local animal businesses such as markets, groomers and more!

    Our event is working to raise funds through donations for an amazing animal rescue this year: Great Lakes Dog Rescue.

    Donations can also be made to Great Lakes Dog Rescue whose mission is to rescue well-tempered, adoptable dogs from animal control facilities and from owner-surrenders and provide them shelter and medical care until they are adopted. They are committed to educating and assisting the community in responsible pet ownership.

    The race is open to both walkers and runners or all ages. Dogs or cats are welcome to race with their owner as long as they have a current license and are kept on a 6 foot leash. Please keep control of your pet at all times.

    24 hours of FUN! This means you can run, walk, go fast, go slow! Do as many loops as you want or can!

    All profits from the race are given to Lions Bear Lake Blind Camp (501c3). In 8 years we have raised over $66,000! to the Camp.

    Registration

    $96.00 (Early registration) and 1 pair of Gloves or Mittens, a Winter hat, or a Scarf (pick one) Dropped off at packet pick up. (The gloves, mittens, hats and scarfs will be given people in need throughout the community)

    • Friday night Dinner for all runners at Packet Pick up.

    Course

    Runners will loop around the Camp along rolling hills on single-track trails, wide trails, some grass and a few bridge crossings completing as many loops (3.1 mile loop) as you wants and at any pace during the 24 hours. At any time, runners can take a break and continue on the course within the 24 hours.

    Useful information

    • Race begins at 8am

    • Chipped event.

    • Cup less race.

    • Heated Indoor bathrooms with showers at the aid station.

    • Pacers are allowed after 50 miles or dark.

    • The aid station is at the start/finish.

    • Camping: All registered runners can set up a tent and camp Friday and or Saturday night near the aid station (10X10). Cars are not able to park in the camping area at the aid station/ start/finish. All cars will be parked the parking lots. Course passes the parking lots every lap. “Car camping” is allowed. Sorry no RV’s, campers, ect.

    Top male/ female runner (most completed loops) receive a custom pint glass.

    Belt buckle for all runners completing 100 miles or more (Partial loops will not be counted).

    Bear Lake Camp is owned and operated by Lions Visually Impaired Youth Camp, Inc. a 501C-3 Non-Profit Corporation. The camp is financially supported by the Lions, Lioness and Leos, as well as Foundation grants and individual donors throughout Michigan.
