Ride bikes, help local kids with cancer …

Registration for the 9th Annual Great Big Group Ride (GBGR), presented by Frank Armetta State Farm, is now open! Join us for a wonderful (but challenging) group ride that benefits local kids with cancer!

GBGR is a fun but challenging way for you to support the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley (PCFLV). This event features a Metric Century and a Metric Half Century. Every participant who registers by July 1st is guaranteed an event t-shirt! If you do not register by July 1st, you are not guaranteed a shirt, but we may have some available at the event.

And, new this year, all participants will receive a GBGR medal at the post-ride check-in table!!

Funds raised at Great Big Group Ride help PCFLV to support local pediatric cancer warriors and their families through financial, social and emotional support and programming.

Both the metric century and metric half century rides contain in-ride challenges, contests and prizes.

Be sure to arrive before your event's start time to enjoy free coffee and bagels and purchase raffle tickets. And stick around after you complete your ride to enjoy a gourmet cook-out generously donated by our friends at Whitehall Diner and Fitness Central.

For those looking to volunteer at this event, click here to see the available opportunities!

This event is brought to you by Frank Armetta State Farm Insurance. Call him today and get an insurance experience better than what you are used to. Frank's number is (610) 351-2333.

    WHAT PCFLV DOES FOR FAMILIES

"The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley is dedicated to supporting quality-of-life for children diagnosed with cancer in the Greater Lehigh Valley and their families, as well as long-term survivorship and bereavement programs. All of our programming and events are offered at no cost to these families. We believe that a pediatric cancer diagnosis affects the WHOLE family, and our mission reflects that belief. We also believe that a family's experience with childhood cancer does not end when treatment ends. Because of that, PCFLV follows a continuum of care model, hoping to be a friend to families from the date their child is diagnosed forever forward.

If you or someone you know has a child diagnosed with cancer, is a survivor of pediatric cancer, or has lost a child to cancer, we encourage you to reach out to us and allow us to be part of your journey through the programming, events, and support we offer!"

    The RIDES

ALL RIDERS MUST PARK AT INDEPENDENCE PARK AND FOLLOW THE SIGNS TO THE BACK OF FITNESS CENTRAL FOR THE START OF THE RIDE.

All riders must wear a helmet, bring their own water, carry a spare tube and have a fun, positive attitude. This is not a race, it is a charity ride. There will be mechanical support at the Weisenberg Paark rest stop courtesy of Bob Brien's Revolutions Mobile Bicycle Repair. A pick up service can be dispatched for on-course problems. All turns will be well marked with Route Arrows. A GPS file will also be available for download soon. There will be some in-ride challenges and contests so be prepared to have a little fun.

    GBGR Metric Century (62 miles)

Rolls out at 8:00 a.m. There will be 2 rest stops with water and fuel at mile 24 and 48 and an early-out option. Expect hill climbs with approximately 4600' elevation gain, screaming descents, rolling hills, covered bridges, beautiful farmland and maybe a covered bridge or 2. Be prepared for some KOM and other hill climb challenges. Link to course route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51091489

    GBGR Metric Half (31 miles)

Rolls out at 10:00 a.m. There will be a rest stop with water at mile 14. Expect about 2000' elevation gain with rolling hills, covered bridges, great scenery, happy people in spandex and someone taking your picture. Link to course: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55234746

    Prizes

    • At registration we will be selling raffle tickets for some great prizes supplied by sponsors and some bike industry companies

    • There will be in-ride challenges and contests to win some prizes as well
