Founded in December 2024 in Johannesburg, Soleful Social Run Club was created out of a desire to build an inclusive running community that welcomes all levels and backgrounds. Starting at Higher Ground Parking in Sandton, the group hosts regular runs at easy and moderate paces, exploring the city’s diverse urban and green spaces. With no membership fees, Soleful encourages a culture of kindness, mutual support, and connection, motivating runners to find their place within Johannesburg’s lively running scene. The founders emphasized openness and diversity, welcoming everyone and fostering collaboration with other local clubs. Beyond physical fitness, Soleful serves as a social hub where members share progress, celebrate milestones, and participate in the city’s major races. By combining personal growth with community spirit, Soleful has become an active part of Johannesburg’s running community, inviting all who seek movement and meaningful connections to join their journey.

Run SL, established in August 2016 as an extension of the Cape Town creative collective Shelflife, has carved out a unique niche in Johannesburg’s vibrant Rosebank neighborhood. Rooted in the city’s dynamic street culture and art scene, this intimate, members-only crew combines running with urban exploration, bringing together a diverse group of runners through night runs that pass iconic landmarks and colorful murals along Keyes Art Mile and beyond.
