5k Relay Run

This is just a fun, casual race with optional costumes. Grab your sweetheart, a friend or family member, just bring someone besides yourself, dress up in red, pink, any fun couples costumes and score a chocolate prize!

  • Each team member needs to run/walk one 1.6 mile lap around City Park carrying a baton. One runs a lap and hands it off to the other partner at the Start Line. Overall Team placement for chocolate awards, is after the two different team members complete a lap consecutively, NOT concurrently.

  • One member want to run both laps? That's fine, send the faster person out first, hand off the baton/bib to the partner for their individual lap and run together. The Team finish is when the 2nd team member finishes with the baton/bib.

  • Both members want to run both laps? That's also fine. If you both want to run a 5 km, run the first lap together and then hand off the baton to the faster runner and turn up the speed for the Team finish. If you don't run the first lap together, the faster person has to wait for the other team member to finish their first lap and hand off the baton.

  • Attach the bib to the baton or the person expected to finish the 2nd lap!

  • When you register with a partner, sign up for the Relay option and Add your partner. Get creative, make a G or PG rated Team name and add your partner to it.

  • Can't find a friend to join you? Bug your friends some more. If not, no worries, sign up as a single entry to join the fun and maybe help us as a more objective judge in the judging of the Twosome costumes and batons!

We will gather outside near the building by the fountain (traffic circle on east side of Pueblo City Park).

Awards are chocolate! We will assign a bib number to the Twosome and keep track of the order of Twosomes finishing. Feel free to time yourself, we may or may not post times, our focus is more on the fun and chocolate! There will be a chocolate award for each runner on the winning teams with the:

  • Biggest Baton

  • Ugliest Baton

  • Most Romantic Baton or costume

  • Most Creative Baton or costume

  • First Twosome (in each of these combined ages 35 & under, 36-45, 46-65, 66-80, 81-90, 91-110, 111-124, 125 and up)

  • Combined age = Team member 1 age + Team member 2 age

Top team in each combined team age group: These awards are designed to be fair for coed teams. We would prefer two total ringers pull in a non-running buddy, or a child or grandchild into the fun of running. Don't worry if you're not fast, work harder on your costume or baton to get some chocolate! Everyone is welcome to hot chocolate at the finish!

    Philippians 1:6

On November 15, 2023, I suffered a burst fracture to my C6 vertebra and woke up a quadriplegic.

After months of rehabilitation, faith, and relentless work, I was able to walk again.

This race started as a way for me to run again.

    It became something bigger.

Break Your Neck is about getting back up when you’ve been knocked down —

walking, running, or rolling — together.

Come run with me, my family, and friends.

Over $75,000 generated in support of spinal cord injury recovery, accessibility, and community impact.
