🦃 ORRRC Turkey Hunt Map & Compass Challenge

📍 George Rogers Clark Park

⏰ Start Time: 2:00 PM | Time Limit: 2 hours

📝 Registration: Opens at 12:00 PM

Join us for the ORRRC Turkey Hunt Orienteering Challenge—a fun test of speed, navigation, and strategy!

🏅 Finisher Awards: Presented to the top 50 finishers.

✨ Pre-Race Training (Optional):

At 12:00 PM, a simple practice course will be available for first-time participants (come to the race start area)

At 12:30 PM, the Miami Valley Orienteering Club will offer a voluntary intro session—perfect for newcomers or anyone wanting a quick refresher. This will also take place at the race start area.

🧭 How It Works:

Two hour time limit to find as many controls as possible and make it back to the finish.

Find controls in any order.

Controls are worth five (5) points each with one (1) point penalty for each minute late.

🧭 What is Orienteering?

It’s an outdoor adventure sport where participants use a detailed map and compass to navigate through a series of checkpoints. Think of it as a mix of cross-country running and treasure hunting!

📚 New to the sport?

Check out the Orienteering Rookie Crash Course at OCIN —a great training resource.

Saturday, April 18, 2026 9:00am - Race will begin promptly at 9am, participants are asked to start on time. Day of registration opens at 8am

Run, jog, or walk through the blooming fruit trees at Peifer Orchards. Of course, its up to Mother Nature if the trees are in bloom on race day. This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day and support a fantastic conservation organization, Tecumseh Land Trust. This is a family friendly event and dog friendly if leashed. T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after April 2, 2026 and will not be held after 9:30 am on race day.

Tecumseh Land Trust protects land and water in southwest Ohio. But local conservation only happens when people like you care enough to support the land trust.

You keep the door open for families who want to conserve their farms, natural areas and protect the waters that connect us all. A donation from you will ensure the land remains vibrant, productive, and resilient for generations to come.

Enjoy the Apple Blossom 5K and thank you for believing in the importance of Ohio’s farmland and wildlife habitat.
