The Scott Burgess Memorial 5k was established in 2013 to honor our own hero, SSG Scott Burgess. Scott was killed in Afghanistan in 2011 while serving in the Army's 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. All of the proceeds go to a scholarship program benefiting the youth of Robertson County where Scott was raised. The race is on June 7th, to begin with a memorial speech at 6:45 am and the playing of Taps and our National Anthem. The race starts at 7:00 am and a kids 1 mile race will immediately follow at approximately 8:00 am. The results and awards will be given out right after the kids run.

Packet pick up will be held at the City Park - Franklin on Friday night before from 5-9p and also pre-race beginning at 6:00 am. The race starts and finishes in City Park - Franklin, Tx. and a full day of family fun with festival games and live music will give the family plenty of things to do so plan to stay for all of the festivities!

    OCTOBER 10, 2026.

The Lake Somerville State Park is unique in that it is actually two parks linked up. The trail that links the two parks is a gorgeous path full of natural habitats and wildlife called The Trailway. For this year, we will run the entire race in the Birch Creek Unit. But we are excited about the future as a huge washed out bridge is expected to get re-built that will gain us access from one side of the lake all the way around to the other side to the Nails Creek Unit (over a marathon of trails one way!). The rest of the park’s trails flow through really fun, canopied, rolling terrain right next to the lake! The start/finish is at a sweet spot on the edge of the lake with a huge grass lawn to relax and play on post-race.

While every racer will get some cool swag, September 15 is the deadline to get a shirt.

During registration, we are collecting $10 for one day of access to the park. If runners are staying for more than one day, they will have to pay additional amounts upon entering the park.
