The Chowan County Sheriff’s Office is thrilled to host our upcoming Kids and Cops: Glow Run! This exciting event is all about giving back to the children in our community and strengthening the bond between local law enforcement and our youth.

The Kids and Cops program, established in 2012, was created to build lasting, positive relationships through mentorship, summer camps, and community events. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone for connecting officers and kids in meaningful ways.

Our 5K will light up the night with a fun glow run experience! Each race packet will include glow gear to help you shine as you run. Participants who register by the early sign-up date will also receive a commemorative event t-shirt.

Join us for a night of fun, fitness, and community spirit as we come together to support our youth!

    Enjoy a flat, scenic course through the Riverside Area of Elizabeth City with views of the Pasquotank River. All proceeds from this event will provide services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence through Albemarle Hopeline, Inc. Hopeline has been serving survivors in northeast North Carolina for 40 years. Learn more about the mission at www.albemarlehopeline.org .

    Come join us in Elizabeth City, North Carolina on Saturday, May 16, 2026 for our Annual North Carolina Potato Festival Tater Trot (5K Run and 1 Mile Walk)! This event is sponsored by the Coast Guard Enlisted Association (CGEA) in partnership with the North Carolina Potato Festival.

    This is a family-fun event and will be timed by Mettle Events.

    Registration is only $35.00 until May 1, 2026 with guaranteed race swag . Fees will increase to $45.00 May 1, 2026 . Same day sign up will be available for $45.00 (cash only) but with no guaranteed swag.

    This race directly supports the local CGEA and our community. The Coast Guard Enlisted Association supports Coast Guard members and their families, as well as our community.     The Color Fun Run is an event that combines a 5K precision timed run while also giving walkers the opportunity to participate as well. "Color" is thrown at participants at intervals along the route, a route which takes place primarily on the Skewarkee Rail Trail.

    Registration:

    5K Run (Timed)- $30; $35 day of race

    5K Walk (Untimed) $25; $30 day of race

    Children Under 8 Free (shirts not provided, but may be purchased for a fee of $15)

    T-Shirts will be provided in the requested size if registered before May 1, 2026. Extra shirts will be available while they last.

    Course Description

    The main course is the Skewarkee Rail Trail with a short stretch of the race on a street adjacent to the Trail. The Trail is an former CSX rail line that continues up to the Roanoke River boat landing. Participants will turn around at this point and go back to the starting point which is the finish line. The trail is a flat scenic route and shaded along the majority of the route.

    All profits go to support the arts programming and operations of the Martin County Arts Council.
