The Cudahy Classic is one of the Badgerland Striders' Premiere running events of the summer. The race features a cross-country style start leading runners to the Oak Leaf Trail. The ten-mile event is two laps of a mostly flat and fast course, with the shorter five-mile event as a nice complement for those looking for less distance. Enjoy the charm of Sheridan Park as well as the stunning views of Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee.

We are continuing our partnership with the Pompeii Men's Club, another Milwaukee area non-profit group! A tasty, freshly cooked sausage will await you at the finish line. Want more than one? Additional sausages can be purchased at checkout.

New this year, the Cudahy Classic Ten-Mile event is the RRCA state of Wisconsin 10-mile State Championship event. There are awards for the first Female and Male in the Open division, the 40+ division, the 50+ division and the 60+ division. There is also a $50 cash prize for each of these winners. Runners who win these awards will be separated from the age group awards for the Cudahy Classic. All runners who register for the Cudahy Classic Ten-Mile event will be eligible for the RRCA awards.

Also this year we are celebrating the 30th wedding anniversary of the Pete and Mary Wysocki who were married at this race in 1996. Mary and Pete Wysocki are long time Badgerland Strider members who have volunteered at many Strider events and have been Volunteers of the year in the past. So, if you see Pete and Mary on the course, congratulate them on their anniversary.

Strain for the Brain is an annual event held to honor individuals diagnosed with a brain tumor and to

celebrate the family and friends there to support them. Brain tumors are a devastating disease that affects 80,000 people and their families each year. The funds raised through Strain for the Brain will directly contribute to advancements in research, medical treatments, and support programs for individuals and families impacted by this life-changing condition. By participating in Strain for the Brain, you will not only contribute to the fight against brain tumors but also showcase your dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by this disease.

Persons with any financial limitations please contact organizers to discuss a Fee Waiver.

History of Strain for the Brain

Mike is a brain tumor survivor who started Strain for the brain in 2010 to raise awareness of this rare disease. The event started small along the lakefront at Veterans Park, originally in May which is brain tumor awareness month. After one particularly chilly event of sleet and snow flurries, it moved to the first weekend of June at Miller Park (currently American Family Stadium) and then to Harley Davidson Museum. Ultimately, the event outgrew that space and has returned to Veterans Park. While Mike had many people help him along the way, it was his persistence and determination to support the cause that kept the event going year after year. Due to the growth of the event, Mike has turned the operations over to Dr. Jennifer Connelly but still is an active participant.

Founded in Milwaukee in late 2023, Buena Tierra Run Club has rapidly grown from a small group of seven to a vibrant community. Inspired by Patrick’s experience running through Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, the group was formed to create a Latino-centered space in Milwaukee’s Southside where running encourages physical and mental well-being. Meeting weekly, their runs connect participants to local streets and landmarks that celebrate Latino heritage and Milwaukee’s diverse urban landscape. Open to everyone but focused on Latino identity, Buena Tierra promotes inclusive, laid-back runs that foster camaraderie and support beyond just the pavement.
