Get some miles in at this family-friendly run/walk! Timed events: 5K, 10K or 1 mile options that will take you through Historic Downtown Cape Charles, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.

Start times will be STAGGERED for the 1 Mile (9:00 AM), 10K (9:15 AM) and 5K (9:30 AM). All events require registration and include a t-shirt, timed event, post-run-party with music, kids' activities, snacks, and a finisher medal (4th in a series of 4).

Participants can opt to participate in the color zone and be sprayed with bright, fun, harmless, and environmentally safe colors. This color zone will be available for all events: 10k, 5k, and 1 mile.

A free Kids’ Dash (10 & under) will be organized on Bay Avenue at the conclusion of the other events, so round up those kiddos and bring them along!

We will also have our third annual Wheelchair Accessible Race!

Participants in the Kids' Dash and Wheelchair Race will receive a prize medal, which is different than the 1-Mile, 5K & 10K finisher medal.

Packet pickup will be open on Friday, April 24, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Cape Charles Civic Center. Day-of packet pickup will be at the beach gazebo from 7:45 - 8:45 AM. Race registration will also be available on the day of the LOVE Run.

    The Eggleston OK5K & 1 Mile Run, Walk & Roll is more than a race—it’s a celebration of community, inclusion, and possibility. Join us for a memorable morning on the beautiful campus of Virginia Wesleyan University, where every step helps make a difference right here in Hampton Roads.

    This event is open to individuals of all mobilities and abilities. With a completely paved and accessible course, the OK5K welcomes runners, walkers, wheelchair participants, families with strollers, and anyone who wants to move at their own pace. Along the way, you might even spot some of Eggleston’s incredible employees and program participants cheering you on—or rolling right beside you.

    Why We Run, Walk & Roll

    Since 1955, Eggleston has been dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for adults with disabilities through training, employment, recreation, and residential services. The OK5K & 1 Mile Run, Walk & Roll is one of Eggleston’s primary fundraising event, and all proceeds directly support our mission.

    Funds raised benefit adults with disabilities in Hampton Roads, with a special focus on Eggleston’s Day Support Programs and Brain Injury Services. These programs provide life-enriching supports that promote independence, personal growth, and community connection. Eggleston’s Brain Injury Services use both case management and a clubhouse model to help individuals achieve their personal goals, while Day Support Programs offer engaging, year-round services designed to enhance quality of life.

    Three days of summer trail running on dirt paths through a local city park at increasing distances. Hot and sweaty summer running in a fun-setting. Course is suitable for all ages and ability levels. Participants at the Joe-Zilla 5-Miler and the full 3-race Trailzilla Series will receive race singlets.

    The event is organized, conducted, and results generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Registration is open to the public and members of the Peninsula Track Club. The entire Trailzilla race series benefits the PTC Scholarship funds.

    We are planning to give awards for each Trailzilla race to the top 3 overall male & female, top male & female age group winners (5-year age groups), including 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and older, and top 3 male & female Walkers. Winners will only receive one award (if a runner receives an overall award they will not receive an age group award).

    Awards for the 3-race Trailzilla Series will be given for top finishers for the 3 races to top overall male & female, top male & female age group winners (5-year age groups), including 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over, and top male & female walker. To be eligible to win in this category runners/walkers must complete all 3 Trailzilla races. Walkers must walk all 3 races to be eligible for top male/female walker. Tie-breaker for each category will be the ranking in the Joe-Zilla 5-Miler. Winners will only receive one award (if a runner receives an overall award they will not receive an age group award).

    Awards for individual races will be based on ages on race day. Awards for the 3 race series will be based on ages on 16 June 2026, the date of the first race in the series.

    Walkers must walk the entire course. Walkers who jog or run any part of the course will be moved to the running category for the race and series.

    Race day registration will be available for each race beginning 1-hour before race start depending on availability. We will update social media with status.
