ASICS Waterfront Half Marathon Shakeout Run

Ease the nerves, shake out the legs, and get race-day ready.

Join us for the ASICS Shakeout Run ahead of the ASICS Waterfront Half Marathon. This relaxed 30-minute run caters for all paces and is the perfect way to prepare for race day alongside fellow participants.

The session will begin at 10:00am and conclude by 11:00am.

Please note:

• All participants must register prior to attending.

• Places are limited and capacity is strictly capped.

• Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email, with a separate email containing full event details closer to the date.

Bib Collection

For registered Shakeout Run participants, race bib collection will be available from 11:00am – 12:00pm following the session.

An open water tide-assisted community swim - all swimmers welcome

Swim Event Details

Saturday, May 2nd, 2026

Start time 8.00am

Be a part of Auckland's longest-running iconic open water swim.

Experience the adrenaline rush as the current whips you around the Maungauika volcanic cone (North Head).

Approx 2.7 km from Windsor Reserve Beach to Bath Street Reserve, Cheltenham Beach.

Swim with or without togs!*

EARLYBIRD PRICE - up to 28 February 2026:

$55 Seniors, $25 Juniors (under 15)

STANDARD PRICE - after 28 February 2026:

$65 Seniors, $30 Juniors (under 15)

CONFIRMATIONS:

All swimmers please arrive early to be processed in time.

Swim day confirmations open 6.30am at Windsor Beach Reserve.

The confirmation desk will close at 7:45am sharp, so please be there in good time. For Health & Safety reasons, all swimmers MUST be confirmed. No confirmation, no swim!

GEAR: Your gear will be transported in a secure trailer to Bath St Reserve for collection at the conclusion of your swim.

Please ensure you use a water-resistant bag as the trailer is not covered.

REQUIREMENTS:

Coloured swim caps are compulsory. Wet-suits and togs are optional. Don't forget your goggles.

ANXIOUS SWIMMERS / JUNIORS:

Let us know before the race (you can email us or even tell us on the day) and we'll give you a special coloured swim cap which will enable our on-water crew to keep a closer eye on you.

RACE BRIEFING: A full race briefing will be given at 7:50am at Windsor Reserve.

START TIME:

The start horn goes off at approx. 8:00am

This is a climate-positive event - please NO plastic, bring reusable bottles & carpool.

HOT FOOD / DRINKS

We will be serving up complimentary pie to entrants with a valid number on their hand.

Local businesses have generously provided a number of prizes for category winners and spot giveaways.

*Freedom swimmers will swim up to our FREEDOM boat just off Windsor Beach and hand over their togs. The boat will be waiting for them on Cheltenham Beach 50 -100 metres off the finishing area. Seniors only.

Kindly Note:

** Strict 2 hour 30 minute time limit for all events.

** Minimum Age Requirements: 10 years [4.5 km/ 5.6 km]; 13 Years [10 km/ 10.55 km] & 16 years [Half-Marathon/ 16.1 km (10-Miler)].

** Parents are welcome to accompany young children participating in the 1.5 km/ 2.5 km events (no charge).

** Participants can change event distances leading up to the event (including during registration on race day).

** Online entries close at 5.00 pm, Saturdays ... the day before each event.

** Bib numbers can be collected from 7.00 am until 7.40 am on race morning.

** Entries on the day are also available from 7.00 am.
