    Old Hallowell Day

    Hills and Thrills Bike Ride

    7:15AM Saturday - July 18, 2026

Welcome! This will be the 11th Old Hallowell Day Hills and Thrills bike ride, one that takes cyclists on a journey through the beautiful rolling hills of Hallowell and neighboring communities. The ride begins at the Boat Landing in downtown Hallowell and takes cyclists on a tour of several roads and hills the city has to offer. Just for fun - we will offer two courses this year - one is 100% asphalt, the other is 50-50 gravel/road. Both courses are about 23 miles long and climbs over 1500-2000 feet. Both routes end up back in downtown Hallowell.

    This is not a race.

This is a recreational ride for moderately experienced cyclists. Due to the distance and the hills, beginners and children will not do well.

Registration: Online pre-registration recommended. Pre-registration closes on Friday, July 17th. The tax-deductible fee defrays the cost of the event - road signs, posters, t-shirts, etc. Any remaining amounts go towards Old Hallowell Day itself, which is a non-profit (501c) organization whose goal is to celebrate a local community.

    • $25 registration fee

    • Capped at 30 riders

    • Ride goes on, rain or shine

Start Check in: 7:00-7:15AM at the Hallowell Boat Landing, Hallowell, Maine.

Start Time: 7:15AM Sharp!!! - this is to ensure we clear the area before the 5K Road Race starts.

Join us for the Tenth Annual Share the Road with Carol.

Share the Road with Carol is a commemorative bike ride planned for September 20, 2026 in Windsor and Whitefield, Maine.

This ride will honor the memory of Carol Eckert, M.D. Carol was tragically killed as a result of a bike accident that occurred in Windsor on October 10, 2016. Biking was Carol's passion and we invite everyone who feels the same to join us in remembrance of a life well pedaled and to further the cause of bicycle safety in Maine.

As a part of our commitment to safety, everyone who participates in this ride must wear a helmet.

*** Register today to win prizes! Again this year we will be raffling off coveted items. All riders who PRE-REGISTER will receive a free raffle ticket. Unfortunately, riders who register the day of the event will not be eligible for the drawing.

We encourage family participation. Any child under the age of 15 may register for only $10 if a parent(s) are registered.

There will be one rest stop on the 27 mile ride. Please join us after the ride at the Windsor Town Hall for fellowship, remembrances and light snacks.

Whether you knew Carol or not, this ride is a wonderful opportunity to explore the lovely rolling hills along the border of Kennebec and Lincoln Counties.

Note: This ride is not a fundraiser.
