RVRR’s ‘Train’ing Run is a non-competitive Group Run held to celebrate National Trails Day

and benefits the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. We donate $.50 for every mile we run or walk!

Run part, or all, of the 34.6 mile D&R towpath together in a group! Register for the bus to take you to the distance/pace start you wish to participate in. Changes are possible by logging in to your runsignup account - you can switch events up to June 4th, as long as there is space on the bus you wish to transfer to.

Additional details can be found at www.rvrr.org/events/training-run

Groups of runners (called ‘trains’) will run (travel) at pre-determined paces to Grove # 4 in Johnson Park in New Brunswick (the destination station).

Starting in Trenton with small groups of runners who are challenging themselves to go the entire distance, the ‘trains’ will add additional runners (passengers) who join (board their ‘train’) at the speed they want to travel. By the end, one massive group of runners and walkers will be moving in a continual train along the Towpath. Trains will have an official pacer (conductor) to keep these trains on schedule. Trains stop at each ‘station’ along the way, and from Alexander Road to the end there is fuel (water and/or snacks) available. All trains are scheduled to reach the destination at 11 a.m. to rest, feast and celebrate a day of running camaraderie.

Join us for the best running day of your life!

It Takes A Borough (ITAB) is honored to host the annual FUCE 5K Family Fun Run/Walk in Mike Fuccile’s memory. On September 4, 2008, Mike Fuccile was murdered on his way to work in Jersey City where he served as a chief compliance officer for Merrill Lynch. Mike left behind his wife of ten years, Nancy, and their three children; Michael, Jack and Brooke. In 2009, The Fucille Foundation was established to help local families impacted by tragedy and it continued to do so until the end of 2023 when it passed its torch to ITAB. ITAB, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to encouraging community solidarity, relies on financial contributions and tangible donations to create meaningful, positive impacts on members of its community affected by tragedy or unforeseen circumstances.

The tradition continues this year in dowtown Metuchen! For a preview of the certified course, please visit ittakesaborough.com.

Join us on Father's Day, June 21st at 8:30 AM to participate in this community event.

You have the option of an officially timed 5K race (a bib with a timing chip), an untimed 5k run/walk or a virtual run/walk. If you are NOT interested in your timed results and are attending the event in person, please choose the 5k run/walk. This option provides more funds to the organization as the cost for untimed bibs are slightly less. We are unable to provide an officially timed event for virtual participants, but you can still submit your results.

    • Virtual 5K - You may choose to participate virtually in the FUCE 5K by requesting this option. ITAB will provide a race day material pickup option for you.

    • 5K Electronically Timed Run - This 5K run will begin at 8:30am. It is a multi-surface 5K route that begins and ends in downtown Metuchen. You may choose to switch events at any time after registering.

    • 5K Fun Run/Walk - The Fun Run/Walk will also begin at 8:30 and follow the same route as the 5K Timed Run. However, this option will not be timed. You may choose to switch events at any time after registering and before 8:00am on race day.

    • If you chose to participate as a Family Supporter, formerly Family/Family Plus Sponsorship, individual members can participate in any option. We ask that if none of the members of your family wish to be timed or you will not be joining us for the event, that you choose the "Family Supporter - No Timed Runners" option. This will allow for more of your contribution to go directly to families in need.

All participants will receive a race day numbered bib. Registrations received by 11:59 PM on 5/15 will receive a T-Shirt. Registrations after 5/15 are not guaranteed a t-shirt.

About East Jersey Old Town Village

This special historic village has delighted visitors with a glimpse into the past since its opening in 1978.

The Village features historic structures from the 1700s and 1800s, relocated to its site within Johnson Park. They represent different architecture styles found throughout Middlesex County’s Raritan Valley. The Village’s founder, Dr. Joseph Kler, and a group of local residents saved most of the buildings from demolition and transported them to the Village where they were reassembled and restored to reflect how they would have looked way back when. Join us for a run that will take you on a tour of the park.
